CRYOTHERAPY.

*Greenville location only*

Cryotherapy, which means “cold therapy,” is a technique in which the body is exposed to extreme cold temperatures for several minutes. Cryotherapy aids in reducing pain and inflammation while enhancing performance and recovery. Our Mecotec chamber is fully enclosed and nitrogen-free to provide the safest and most effective cryotherapy experience.

DRY NEEDLING.

Physical therapists utilize dry needling to reduce myofascial restrictions and pain secondary to trigger points. Trigger points are commonly known as “knots” or areas of soft tissue restrictions that are tender to touch and can cause pain in the surrounding areas (referred pain). A very thin needle is pushed through the skin into the trigger point to release the tight muscle bands and decrease the associated pain.

CUPPING THERAPY.

Also known as Myofascial Decompression, cupping is a form of soft tissue mobilization that creates suction on the skin using a silicone or plastic cup. Cupping is one of the only treatments that works to lift the skin rather than applying deep pressure. Through this, cupping brings increased blood flow to the body part. In turn, this decreases muscle tightness leading to a decrease in overall pain.

Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization.

A form of manual therapy that uses stainless-steel handheld instruments with a specialized form of massage. Providers are able to use this instrument assisted technique to identify and break up areas of scar tissue and promote a better healing environment for the injured soft tissue.

PERCUSSION THERAPY (HYPERVOLT).

Percussion Therapy involves using a handheld device to target specific areas with gentle pulses of pressure. The various pulse of pressure allows us to decrease muscle tension and soft tissue restrictions, increase blood flow, and improve overall range of motion.

Normatec Recovery.

The Normatec Recovery System provides dynamic compression using their patented pulse technology to help enhance blood flow and aid in recovery. This system uses compressed air to massage limbs, mobilize fluid, and ultimately speed up the recovery process.  Ice will often be used in combination with the Normatec system.

Blood Flow Restriction Recovery.

Blood flow restriction (BFR) training is the intermittent partial restriction of blood flow using a blood pressure cuff while exercising to enhance muscle hypertrophy (growth), strength, and recovery. Research has shown BFR can minimize loss of muscle mass and stimulate bone healing during the early immobilization phases, allowing patients to improve both muscle size and strength without the stress of heavy lifting.

KINESIOTAPING.

A therapeutic taping method using a uniquely designed elastic tape. This modality enhances the function of many different tissues and physiologic systems. It can be applied and worn for extended periods with continued therapeutic benefit between clinical visits.

Modalities.

Physical modalities are a form of thermal, electrical, or mechanical energy that causes a physiological change to facilitate pain relief, improved circulation, and/or decrease inflammation. These include ultrasound, TENS Unit and ESTIM.

Additional Services.

MANUAL THERAPY.

Manual therapy is a hands on treatment used to facilitate movements that your body otherwise could not perform. The goal behind any manual therapy treatment is to mobilize soft tissue (muscle, fascia or tendons) and joints which can be performed in several different ways. All forms of soft tissue mobilization are superficial (above the skin) with the exception of dry needling (direct to the muscle).

Custom Foot Orthotics.

Custom foot orthotics are supportive devices that are worn in your shoes and position your foot in proper alignment. They are prescribed to decrease the frequency of movement-related injuries, align the skeleton properly, provide improved cushioning, and/or improve comfort.

Pilates Based Physical Therapy.

Pilates Based Physical Therapy is a holistic, patient centered approach to healing the physical body following an injury or surgery. Pilates Based Physical Therapy uses traditional Physical Therapy interventions as well as the Pilates system to address a person’s individual physical limitations. The Pilates equipment assists patients in gaining more control over their body through a focused mind. To learn more about our Pilates private lessons and group classes, click here!

Physical Therapy for Golfers.

Do you have pain with playing golf, feel restricted or limited in your swing, or want to get back to the course following an injury? Allow a TPI certified physical therapist to evaluate you and analyze your swing from a movement, biomechanical and impairment-based standpoint to uncover any faulty movement patterns that are predisposing you to pain.

TPI Golf Evaluations are available!
