SPORTS PERFORMANCE.

Our comprehensive sports performance programs are designed by our team of strength and conditioning coaches, physical therapists and athletic trainers for athletes ranging from beginner to elite. You can get a good workout almost anywhere… that’s not what we’re about. In order to perform at your optimum level, you have to go beyond the workout. Each program we design incorporates: sport specific training, strength & conditioning, speed & agility, explosive power, injury prevention, flexibility, mobility. and recovery.

Athletes should be training their bodies year round. Their needs will vary depending on what season they are in. Our programs parallel each sport season and are broken into 12-week blocks. This allows our coaches to tailor their programs based on whether an athlete is Off-Season, Pre-Season or In-Season. It also provides flexibility for multi-sport or year-round athletes and those with busy schedules.

RECOVERY SERVICES.

At Youngs Physical Therapy we strive to assist patients and clients in achieving their goals and living their best life. With our various recovery services, we are able to enhance the body’s natural healing process by: (1) promoting blood flow and improving circulation, (2) stimulating tissue healing, and (3) reducing localized inflammation. This generally allows patients and clients to return to activities and sports faster, and with less soreness, than they would have naturally.

Recovery services can be scheduled as a la carte appointments and do not require health insurance. Please call our office to schedule at (252) 565-8812.

CRYOTHERAPY.

*Greenville location only*

Cryotherapy, which means “cold therapy,” is a technique in which the body is exposed to extreme cold temperatures for several minutes. Cryotherapy aids in reducing pain and inflammation while enhancing performance and recovery. Our Mecotec chamber is fully enclosed and nitrogen-free to provide the safest and most effective cryotherapy experience.

DRY NEEDLING.

Physical therapists utilize trigger point dry needling to reduce myofascial pain secondary to trigger points. Trigger points are commonly known as “knots” or areas of soft tissue restrictions that are tender to touch and can cause pain in the surrounding areas (referred pain). A very thin needle is pushed through the skin into the trigger point to release the tight muscle bands causing the trigger point and decrease the associated pain.

CUPPING THERAPY.

Also known as Myofascial Decompression, cupping is a form of soft tissue mobilization that creates suction on the skin using a silicone or plastic cup. Cupping is one of the only treatments that works to lift “the skin” rather than applying deep pressure. Through this, cupping brings increased blood flow to the body part. In turn, this decreases muscle tightness leading to a decrease in overall pain.

PERCUSSION THERAPY (HYPERVOLT).

Percussion Therapy involves using a handheld device to target specific areas with gentle pulses of pressure. The various pulse of pressure allows us to decrease muscle tension and soft tissue restrictions, increase blood flow and improve circulation, and improve overall range of motion. We are able to utilize percussion therapy on all of our patients.

NORMATEC RECOVERY.

The Normatec Recovery System provides dynamic compression using their patented pulse technology to help enhance blood flow and aid in recovery. This system uses compressed air to massage limbs, mobilize fluid, and ultimately speed up the recovery process.  Often, ice will be used in combination with the Normatec system.

Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization.

A form of manual therapy that uses stainless-steel handheld instruments with a specialized form of massage. Providers are able to use the Graston Technique to identify and break up areas of scar tissue, and promote a better healing environment for the injured soft tissue.

KINESIOTAPING.

A therapeutic taping method using a uniquely designed elastic tape. This modality enhances the function of many different tissues and physiologic systems. It can be applied and worn for extended periods with continued therapeutic benefit between clinical visits.

MASSAGE THERAPY.

*Greenville location only*

All massages are customized to meet our patient’s needs and goals. We pride ourselves in working together stronger with a team approach from all aspects of your pre-op, post op, rehab, sports performance, and overall general wellness goals.
