March 2017 – Ives Howard
Ives Howard is a 6th grader at St. Peter Catholic School. He has been playing baseball since 4 years old and currently playing in his last season for team Pepsi-Cola with Greenville Little League. He has played on the Greenville Little League Tar Heel All-Star Team the last three summers. Following this past summers all-star season Ives and many of his friends enjoyed playing on a travel baseball team. When not involved with baseball Ives enjoys playing basketball for the St. Peter school junior varsity team. Ives and his family try to attend a couple of major league baseball games each summer. He has attended games at 10 MLB stadiums so far. His favorites include Wrigley Field and the Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California. Ives has one brother, Suiter (9) who is entering his first season with the Greenville Little League.
Ives has been a member of the YPT family since September 2016. He has transitioned into our wellness program to prepare for the upcoming baseball season. He works exceptionally hard each day to improve overall athleticism and coordination.
February 2017 – Kayla Jones
Kayla Jones is a senior at Riverside High School in Williamston, North Carolina where she has been a member of the Lady Knights Basketball team and team captain for 3 years. She began playing basketball at age 7 with the Washington County Recreational Center in Plymouth, NC. She has also played AAU Basketball with the Carolina Flames out of Raleigh, NC for four years under the leadership of Coach Arnie Morris. Kayla unfortunately tore her ACL during a Christmas Tournament in December 2015. After her surgical repair in February of 2016, Kayla has been hard at work to rehabilitate her knee. Through all of her hard work and dedication, she signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at North Carolina State University. She was nominated to the McDonalds All-American team in 2017, and will represent the State of North Carolina in March in the NC vs. SC All-Star Game. We wish her the best of luck as she continues on in her basketball career as a member of the WOLFPACK!
January 2017 – Chase Cobb
Chase Cobb is a 7th grade student at E.B. Aycock Middle School. He began playing baseball in Greenville at the age of 4. In 2013, he was drafted to the Greenville Little League (GLL) “Kiwanis” baseball team as a 9-year-old. He has played baseball for the Kiwanis team and Carolina Elite travel ball. During his little league career, he made the all-star North state team for 3 out of 4 years. In 2016, he completed his 12-year-old season with the Kiwanis team. During that year the team took first place in the North State League, won the North State Championship and the Kiwanis team also went on to win the 2016 Greenville City Championship. What a great way to finish your final year with Greenville Little Leagues! Chase also enjoys playing basketball and he ran cross-country for E.B. Aycock Middle this past fall. Chase is moving on and getting ready to try out for his first year of middle school baseball next month. We wish him the best of luck as he continues on in his baseball career!
December 2016 – Abbi Adler
Abbi Adler is a freshman at The Oakwood School, and has been a member of the girl’s varsity soccer team since she was 13 years old. Abbi is also a member of the Pitt Greenville Soccer Association U-16 Premier Team, which is noted as the recent 1st place winners of the CASL National Soccer Series. The team has also qualified for the CASL Girl’s College Showcase later this month. While playing soccer Abbi has hit some bumps along the way – most recently an injury in September where she broke her lower leg and tore some muscles around her knee. Now after 2 months of rest and recovery she is back on the field playing soccer. Abbi attributes her success in rehab to her family and the clinic staff for pushing her to her limits to speed up her recovery process. Abbi has 3 siblings, Alexander (17), Addison (8) and Arrington (5), and in her spare time enjoys playing the violin, traveling with her family and playing sports with her siblings. We are excited for you to start your spring season strong and wish you the best as you continue your soccer career at Oakwood!
November 2016 – Holly Gibson
Holly Gibson is a sophomore at J.H. Rose High School, and is currently a setter on the varsity volleyball team. As a freshman, Holly was a member of Rose’s first sand volleyball team. She began playing competitive volleyball at age 10 with the East Carolina Volleyball Club. Holly was greatly influenced by her 2 older sisters who also played volleyball. As a member of our wellness program Holly works hard within her personal training session to improve her skills on the court. We are excited for you to finish your season strong and wish you the best as you continue your volleyball career at J.H. Rose!
October 2016 – Justin McDonald
Justin is an 8th grade student at Chicod Middle School. He began playing baseball at the age of 4 with the Southern Pitt Rec League. At 8 years old Justin joined the Carolina Elite Baseball Travel Team. His team went on to play in Cooperstown, NY at Cooperstown Dreams Park last summer. Justin is a multi-sport athlete who plays baseball, football, and cross country for Chicod Middle School. He also enjoys playing basketball when not involved with school sports. We’re excited for your upcoming season and wish you the best as you enter your final year of middle school baseball!
September 2016 – Kaila Lawrence
Kaila Lawrence is a 6th grade student at Hope Middle School. Kaila began competing for Rose’s Gymnastics’ competitive team at age 7. She was an Excel Bronze Level State Team member and was Regional Champion on Vault. She is currently training towards competing as a level 8 gymnast for the upcoming 2016-2017 season. In addition to gymnastics, she also has a passion for science and animals and aspires to become a veterinarian.
August 2016 – Logan Saad
Logan Saad is a rising freshman at The Oakwood School. Logan was one of 128 students selected from around the world to study with one of the world’s foremost contemporary ballet company Alfonso King’s LINES Ballet. The LINES Ballet Summer Program is a 4-week program geared towards intermediate to advanced level dancers and includes a summer showcase performance at San Francisco State University. Logan will then travel to NYC to study and perform with the Broadway Artist Alliance. The BAA provides professional training for young musical theatre performers and challenges each student to develop his or her “Triple Threat” performance skills: dancing, singing, and acting. Congratulations on your LINES Ballet selection and we look forward to your success in the future!
July 2016 – Kate Miller
Kate is a rising junior at J.H. Rose High School. Kate developed a passion for the game of soccer at a very young age, hitting the field at age 5. She started with the local Future Stars program and in 2008 joined the Pitt-Greenville Soccer Association club team (the 99’s) where she plays forward. Her team has played in many tournaments across the state of NC, and earned 1st place in the Beast of the East in 2012 and 2015. This year the team earned Premier status, about which she is very excited! Kate also plays for the women’s varsity soccer team at J.H. Rose. In addition, Kate is a violinist and a member of the J.H. Rose Orchestra and the Eastern Youth Senior Orchestra at ECU.
Kate has many exciting future goals. She plans to attend Governor School in 2017, as well as serve as a peer leader for the Hugh Shelton Leadership Institute. At this time she wants to attend the University of Virginia for her undergraduate degree and then earn a terminal degree in physical therapy. She also plans to continue playing club soccer throughout college, as the love of the game will stay with her for a lifetime. We wish you the best with your return to soccer!
June 2016 – Pitt Community College Baseball
We would like to congratulate Pitt Community College’s baseball team on becoming the 2016 Region X Conference Baseball Tournament Champions. Led by Coach Tommy Eason PCC baseball topped USC-Lancaster 10-6 on May 11th to win the Region X Tournament. Youngs Physical Therapy & Sports Rehab provides athletic training services to all PCC athletic teams (Volleyball, Basketball, Baseball, and Softball). Our athletic trainers work closely with PCC’s team physician, athletic director, coaches and staff to ensure their athletes are able compete at their highest potential and avoid injury. Congratulations to all PCC athletic teams on a successful year!
May 2016 – Megan Reisch
Megan is a sophomore at J.H. Rose High School. After playing various sports since age 4 (soccer, basketball, volleyball, cross country), Megan settled on lacrosse as her favorite sport. Since 7th grade she has played on various teams for Pitt County Youth Lacrosse and now plays varsity lacrosse at Rose. Last year Megan joined a travel team out of Raleigh (Carolina Flight). Her Flight team is preparing for their summer tour of tournaments in GA, MD, SC, and VA. We wish you the best with travel lacrosse this summer!
April 2016 – Tricredible Trio
The Tricredible Trio (Julia Bonner, Lizz Nelson, Emily Price) is headed to Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa on April 10th to compete in the Ironman African Championship. The championship consists of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bicycle ride and a marathon 26.2-mile run! We wish you all the best of luck, safe travels!
March 2016 – Lillian Ozimek
Lillian is a 6th grade honor student at E.B. Aycock Middle School. Lillian joined Rose’s Gymnastics competitive team at age 5 and is now a level 8 gymnast. She was an Excel Gold Level State Team alternate and was State Champion on Floor. She earned a spot at the Level 7 regional in 2015 in Mobile Alabama and was Region 8 Floor Champion. She is currently preparing to compete in her State Meet in Greensboro. She also plays for the Mets in Greenville Little League Minors. Lillian has two older brothers, Jarrett and Phifer. We wish you the best at States!!!
February 2016 – Drew Steele
Drew Steele is a junior at J.H. Rose High School. He has played baseball in Greenville, NC since age 9. He was a member of the 13-year-old Greenville All Star Team that traveled to Seattle, WA and finished 2nd in the World Series in August 2012, earning honors on the All Tournament Offense Team. Drew has played Greenville Babe Ruth, JV basketball while at Rose, and is currently on the Rose Varsity Baseball team. We wish you the best with the upcoming spring baseball season!
January 2016 – Luke Stalnaker
Luke is a senior at Bethel Christian Academy in Kinston, NC. He has lettered in varsity soccer, basketball and baseball. Luke was awarded the Jerome Smith trophy as the junior high Male Athlete of the Year 2011-2012. He was a member of the 2014 NCCSA basketball state championship team.
